Besides featuring the ever-important trolley rides, Electric City also has interactive exhibits and interesting artifacts that will excite the young train aficionados.
SCHEDULE OF OPERATION:
(Wednesday through Sunday only - during the Winter) from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except Christmas, New Years and Thanksgiving Day.
The Electric City Trolley Museum shares a parking lot with Steamtown, making onestop shopping for kids who love the rails. This museum tells the story of electric traction and trolley systems in northeastern Pennsylvania. Trolley excursions depart regularly from the same platform as the Steamtown trains and go through the Crown Avenue tunnel. The Children’s Gallery teaches “painless geography” through models set on maps of the area. Kids can generate their own electricity, run a trolley system, and build their own model anthracite communities. The trolley excursion has recently been extended to reach the Lackawanna County Visitor Center.
