This is not the same park as the Kings Mountain State Park. This site is operated by the National Park Service.
Kings Mountain NMP is an outstanding national military park, part of our National Park Service system. This site commemorates a major battle (and turning point) in the American Revolution. It features war heroes (on both sides) such as Patrick Ferguson, John Sevier, Isaac Shelby, Benjamin Cleveland. Having grown up very near this mountain, I personally have seen this site progress from a mediocre field trip to a polished and fascinating overall experience. The park rangers are very well-informed and delighted to take you on various tours of the park. Our children have enjoyed the NPS's Junior Ranger program, and the KMNMP is no exception. Their Junior Ranger program was thorough (it tooks two hours), and it requires that the children really seek out information all over the park. It is a beautiful trail up Kings Mountain. There is a historical re-enactment film that I'd recommend you view prior to touring the park. We would highly recommend this as a daytrip.
