- Safe City is a miniaturized four-block area of Jacksonville's downtown with a working traffic light, small plastic buildings and a railroad crossing. These are meant to introduce tricycle-riding children to traffic and personal safety while “driving”.
- Playscapes and Learning Fun is where children can climb, slide, dig and ride while learning how to use telescopes, signal kits, mechanical diggers, a sundial and compass. Play equipment mimics real-life machines and historical sites.
- Water Splash Park has two areas:
- Three Friends is a large play structure in the form of a boat, with a water slide and water cannons.
- Bayou, Bogs & Frogs is a non-skid, sculptured rug that depicts Florida wetlands and includes water jets and a water-spouting turtle, snake and toadstool.
- Timucuan Indian Village with plastic huts
I saw all these great reviews about the Kids Campus at the Metro Zoo we were so disapointed. Everything is gone for kids except a very hot old metal jungle gym that couldn't even be touched. I sure hope construction has somewhere in their plans to bring something fun for the kids back to this beautiful park. It is beautiful and a great place for a quiet picnic if that's what you're looking for.
For the past year, Kids Kampus has undergone some degree of closure for remodeling. This past summer, the water park was completely shut down and unavailable. For a good part of the year, other parts of the park have been closed. The last time we went, it was completely inaccessible. I hope it reopens soon.
Great water park located in downtown Jacksonville. Lots of fun for the kids. Unfortunately the City is not opening it this year since they will be renovating it in the coming months. My kids are so disappointed. Hope the park will open in 2011. Can't wait to see the new one.
This is a fantastic community park but when we went over half of the splash pad was shut down because it was not working. They were only allowing 15 kids in at a time and there were several daycare groups so the rotation in to the splash pad took a little time. The kids had a wonderful time though and there were lots of places to run and a small splash pad outside the main splash pad gate for them to play in while they waited. We had a fun picnic lunch but avoid the covered picnic areas if you can because the flies are awful. When we moved out to the open grass it was fine. The playground area had lots of equipment for kids of various ages.
A nice and big city owned park. There's a little town for the kids to ride around in and play in the little tikes buildings. You can borrow tricycles and other things. There is also a fun playground. The splash park is open in the summer and limited to 40 kids. Once they reach 40 kids, they rotate every 15 minutes. Day care groups will bring their kids there too. Adults will get wet with young children so dress appropriately. The bathroom is a little far from the splash park in my opinion and isn't the best/cleanest. We will wait until it's cooler out to go back and play in the town and playground.
Our daughter loves Kids Kampus. Especially when the waterpark is open. They allow you to check out play items for the sand or bikes for the mini-city. The grounds are kept very neat and tidy. The only issue we ran into, is if they are doing an educational program for the public schools field trips, they use all available staff and leave no one to check items in or out for the rest of the children.
This city park is incredible fun. Among the interactive gizmos and equipment, kids will find a toddler splash pool with geysers and sculptures, a sand area with mechancal diggers, a replicated Timucuan village, a wind machine, and kid-size streetscapes.
