Keystone has 3 mountains to ski or ride Dercum, The Outback and North Peak. They've got skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowmobiling, and even night skiing. The resort also has six family adventure areas located on the mountain.
Great skiing area for kids and beginners. Resort staff are all very friendly, accomodating and fun. Excellent choice for a family activity, or to take little ones that are just beginning to ski. Prefer this resort and ski area/town over many other in CO.
My family took this trip when I was 17, my brothers were 14 and 12. We all decided we would snowboard that year as we tried skiing a few years before and found it boring. I will admit I spent the whole week on my butt a lot of the time but it was totally worth it. The first day my brothers said they would teach me how to snowboard since they had done it on small hills at home but once we got to the top of the ski lift they left me alone. I tried it on my own but failed and ended up walking back up the mountain to descend on the ski lift. I took classes later that day and it made a world of a difference. I would highly recommend first timers to just take the class. Even for skiing its a good idea to learn how to stop or slow down. The best part about this resort is everything is there. There are gift shops, restaurants, and more, its like a little village. The outside is absolutely gorgeous to look at. And the price was reasonable because my parents cannot afford many family trips so this was a big deal for us. Finally I would recommend this place because there were many other kids our age that were also there so we made friends easily. I do not like the idea of a bunch of college people tearing the place up. We went in the spring so I think that's also why is was so reasonably priced.
