This aquarium is lovely and has a very relaxed atmosphere. My husband and I visited this together without children. It is quite small but there is lots to see and children can get very close to the fish and the activities. The guide was great, she knew her stuff and looked very happy in her job. We spent quite a while looking around. It was great value for money and really enjoybale. Well done to the staff for making this what is is.
So many wonderful things to say! The price might seem a little steep, especially if you opt for the boat ride but it is worth it! Inside there is a wonderful array of animals, sharks, squids, dolphins, feeding shows, exhibits and more! On the boat ride we had dolphins swimming next to us! The staff was knowledgeable and kind. We spent four hours there, and still hadn't had enough!
We recently visited the Key West Aquarium with our 20 month old. The Aquarium itself is a bit small, but there a are a lot of unique things to see such as a shark and a sting ray feeding. Guest can also touch a nurse shark. My son especially liked touching the star fish and other animals in the touch pool. Other big hits were the colorful tropical fish and jelly fish. There is also a fair portion of the aquarium outside. Over all, small, but a nice visit. We went back pre and post nap for two 45 minute visits.
My kids favorite part has to be either the Touch Tank (star fish, horseshoe crabs, sea cucumbers and hermit crabs) or the Shark tank during feeding time. great for a day of fun! Even after living in Key West I love to see all the different kinds of fish that live in our "backyard".
On the waterfront near Mallory Square, this is a small, open-air,Key West–style aquarium, meaning it’s kind of funky, nothing plastic or dressed up. You can watch shark and turtle feedings and feel around the touch tank.
My family loves to go to Key West because the drive is so amazing, but after being surrounded by so much water for such a long drive, it would be a shame to not see any fish with the kids. Unless you are planning snorkling or one of the day trips on glass bottom boats while at Key West, the aquarium is a great way to see some of the sea life from the surrounding waters. It's not too expensive compared with the aquariums I've visited in California, but it's not too big either. We had the place to ourselves when we visited. The shark feeding and turtle feeding was ok. We were happy to see fish. (Anyhow, the best part of going to Key West is the awesome drive)
