While not fabulous, the Kentucky Welcome Center is a welcome site for travelers with small children who need room to run and stretch their legs. If you are headed west bound on I-24, this is a great place to stop. Pack a picnic lunch and dine at one of the covered gazebos. In addition, they offer information on road conditions and area information from one of the friendly staff members. The best part has to be the mile or so of meandering sidewalks that the kids can run to the hearts content without worrying about safety since they are a ways away from the parking areas. Bring a ball and play on the grassy area. The restrooms are very clean and the shade trees make the area seem inviting instead of just another dreary rest stop!
