Located just 20 miles from downtown Houston, the Kemah Boardwalk is filled with lots of family-friendly amusements. You'll find roller coasters, carousels, ferris wheels, a train, dancing fountains, and other amusement rides. There's also a 4D theater and a stingray reef where you can touch and feed live stingrays.
We came out here with my 3 year old son during Thanksgiving week 2010. Lots of the rides are certainly for big kids, but there was plenty to keep my little guy happily entertained.
Given the heat of the Houston area, the dancing fountain was loads of fun. He loved running around and getting hit by the spontaneous water. The grandparents and him also loved the train ride around the boardwalk as well as lots of the little kiddie rides like the carousel and ferris wheel. The stingray tank was fun and there's also a rainforest exhibit with snakes and tarantulas (YUCK!) at the aqarium.
All in all, a fun day for everyone.
We spent the day/evening here and never ran out of fun! The Boardwalk is close to an old fashioned boardwalk you would see in a movie. carnival games and food(love the funnel cake)!
We had our 15 month old and 3 year old with us. Under 48inches is FREE and a parent is always FREE with a child(with a couple exceptions). Make sure you buy an All Day Pass if you plan on riding more than 3 rides. Rides are between $3.25 and $4 each plus tax so the pass is worth it.
There are also MANY restaurants to choose from and each of them has seating on the water for great views. A cluster of shops to visti offers great selection to choose from.
There isn't enough time for me to sing all of the praises of our experience!
We will go back as often as we can!
