We were actually staying near Pa'ia and made the trek to this side of the island, specifically for this beach. It was the best beach for kids with the clean golden sand. The waves are a bit calmer, especially in the morning, so little swimmers have an easier time frolicking in the water. Sand castle building is easy (until the tides come in), and the water is lovely and clear. There were also lots of stand-up paddlers in this area. We highly recommend these beaches for all members of the family.
We went to the one that was basically at the end of the road. There is a very small parking lot with bathrooms and showers across from the church, which is a short walk to the beach, but they have a pull out to unload the gear from the car and then go park.
Kamaole Beach 3 is THE best beach for children under 8. It is small and only attracts young families... Everyone seems to pack up at noon to get out of the hottest part of the day. There is lovely grass on the way down to the beach which makes a nice picnic spot.
Lots of parking and showers, and easy set to set up for the day. It's also a nice place to walk if you have a baby in a sling etc.
Signs point you toward the three-part series of Kamaole Beach Parks, blessed by wide expanses of sand and picnic tables. Bodysurfing and swimming are great along this whole stretch of coast. Between Beaches I and II, a coral reef is home to many colorful fish, making conditions wonderful for snorkeling. There is a miniature playground, for the mini-size kids in your family, at Beach III.
