"Green hills park"

Spring was in bloom when we found this park to stop at on our recent road trip.  It was refreshing to see the green hills towering above the play structures.  I sat under the shade of the flowering lilac vine until I just had to join in the play.

I admit, it's not often that I join in on the games of tag or climbing and sliding that my kids participate in at the usual parks.  But this park had something that I couldn't resist: a flexing balance beam.  It was about 5 sections long and gently moved up and down like a teeter totter.  We played several games of chicken and then we got ambitious.  3 of us (my 2 year old, my 10 year old and I) went on one side of the beam while my husband, my 4 year old and 8 year old went on the other side.  The goal was for each of us to walk along the beam and get to the opposite side without falling off.  There were many laughs as we crawled under and over each other to get to our goals.

This park is a great place for stopping to stretch legs, get some energy out and use the restroom.  We picked up fast food on our way to this park while traffic was teeming on the 101.  We'll be here again on our next trip to Grandma's!
