This park was amazing. It had acres and acres of wildlife. I saw the signs saying you could camp there but we just went to go on the boatride down the river. There were 5 adults and 2 kids that were in our group. We got on the pontoon boat and the staff was very friendly. As we rode on the river the captain gave us all sorts of information about the wildlife we were seeing. We saw all sorts of birds, nests, and turtles and even an alligator! My 4 year old loved it!! After the boat ride we got off on an island and had a tour of Trapper NElsons land. He was a man who lived off the land. This was also very informative and they had many exhibits to look at. the tour guide was informative and new what she was talking about! Overall, it was a great kid friendly place that was inexpensive, fun and we learned a lot about the Florida wildlife
Many people overlook Jonathan Dickinson because it lacks beaches. Its treasures are estuarine instead. Take the family there to camp, rent a cabin, hike, canoe, or enjoy pontoon tours into its 11,600 acres of forest—host to wildlife such as deer and Florida scrub jays.
