This zoo is one of the best. There are great deals and days that are cheap. New attractions are constantly coming in. This is family friendly and they know how to work with the kids!! They have beautiful kangaroos who love the kids attention. This would be a great place to take the kids. A petting zoo and camal rides are there best qualities.
I reaize there are biger and better zoos out there. But we really like the layout of John Ball and the animals are great. There is a wide variety of things to see, yet its not too big to bring the little ones to. you can easily do it in a morning(I would suggest going in the morning, the animals are awake and feeding)
We always pack lunch and instead spend our money on feeding the budgies or sting rays! Those two activities are MUSTS! When else do Michigan kids get a chance to touch a smooth stingray or have a colorful bird eat from thier hand. Also of intrest is the lions and apes. Really amazing for a small zoo.
Our family has a membership to this zoo. Although it's not the biggest zoo ever with the most exotic animals, it is the perfect size to visit in an afternoon. We can get through the entire zoo in a few hours, or enjoy just a part of it if we slow down. The kids especially love the petting zoo, the aquarium, the chimpanzees, and the lions.
The John Ball Zoo is a great place to take your kids if you live in or near Grand Rapids. The place is very clean and they have a good amount of animals here. They have a petting Zoo for the kids which they all love. Bring lunch and snacks though because it is kinda expensive to eat there.
While this zoo may not be the largest ever, it is the perfect size for toddlers who think they can walk everywhere. There is just enough to see without getting bored. There is also a picnic area outside of the zoo next to a pond w a fake dragon in it. Fun afternoon
We love John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is the perfect size zoo to visit with small children because you can see everything and still make it back in time for nap. Some of my kids favorite exhibits are the penguins, gorillas, kimono dragon, and tide pool. The zoo is very clean. They sell lunch of course, but there is also a beautiful park attached to the parking lot with plenty of picnic tables, lush trees, a huge pond with ducks and geese to feed. We love to have picnics there.
