Lots of facilities—tennis courts; wheelchair-accessible restrooms; showers; a snack bar; a volleyball net; kayak, sailboat, and windsurfing rentals and lessons; beachaccessible wheelchair; tennis and swimming lessons by the week; boardwalk onto the beach; and a playground—plus rental chairs and lifeguards make this Nantucket’s best beach for families. Since Jetties Beach is approximately 3⁄4 of a mile from town, the NRTA (Nantucket Regional Transit Authority) shuttle is recommended over walking and dragging the children and assorted paraphernalia (pick it up downtown).
Jetties Beach is where the annual Sandcastle and Sculpture Day contest is
held in mid-August.
