Although a pedestrian trail circles around Jenny Lake, if you want faster access to the hiking trals that begin on the other side of the lake, you can take the Jenny Lake Boat across the lake in the summer. The shuttle boat departs from a dock near the Jenny Lake Visitor Center, mid-May through the end of September. For current hours of shuttle operation, call the marina

"Jenny Lake"

Jenny Lake is located in Grand Teton National Park and is BEAUTIFUL.  The water is clear (and crisp!) and it literally sparkles.  The backdrop of the mountains is a perfect photo-op and the wildlife and natural setting cannot be beat.  It is a great place to go if you want to get away from typical tourist attractions.  There are many nearby historic attractions as well.

"Jenny Lake is a must see in GTNP"

Jenny Lake is a must see in GTNP.  I've lived and worked in Jackson for a couple of years, and Jenny is the place that I tell everyone to visit.  The wonderful thing about it is that it is great for all ages.  You can choose to walk around the lake to the base of the Hidden Falls trail, or you can take the Jenny Lake Boating Company's boat across.  The walk is about 2 miles and the boat takes about five minutes or less.  From the trail head it's about a half mile to Hidden Falls, and it's a nice, easy hike.  It's VERY popular in the summer, especially in July and August, so expect to be on a busy trail.  If you are feeling up to it (be careful of altitude sickness, especially with the little ones), you can continue to Inspiration Point, which is less crowded.  Further up is Cascade Canyon, which is definitely worth the hike, if the kids can take it, or you have a kid-carrier of some sort.

"One of my most favorite memories took place at Jenny Lake"

Jenny Lake is one of those places that looks too beautiful to be real. Its a small mountain lake setting up against the jaw dropping Teton Range. For a small fee you can take a jet boat shuttle across the lake and land at the base of the Hidden Falls trailhead. The walk up to the falls is easy and beautiful. The falls truly are hidden and are really only viewable from a small area. The view is extraordinary. But dont' stop there! Keep heading on up the mountain towards Inspiration Point. It isn't too far of a hike but it is uphill. My two year olds did it so I think anyone reasonably fit could do it as well. The view from Inspiration Point (elev 7000 ft) in amazing. You truly do feel like you are on top of the world. I think this hike is a must do if you are in Grand Teton National Park.

"Hike or take the boat to the falls for lunch"

Jenny Lake is one of those beautifully pristine mountain lakes that you have to see. It is in Grand Teton National Park and offers a nice mix of modern and roughing it.
Before we had our son, we would typically hike in from one of the trailheads and meet family members with their kids who had taken the boat shuttle across the lake for lunch. Now, we're on the boat too, which is a fun and easy trip.
