Jekyll Island’s 10 miles of beaches are great for swimming or sand castle building.  Jekyll Island’s beaches offer shell collecting. Many live creatures abound as well, including hermit crabs and sand dollars.

"Best Georgia Beaches for Family Adventure!"

Our family has been going to Jekyll Island for years. They have magical beaches perfect for families, flat and wide with kid-friendly waves. Wonderful place to introduce young ones to the ocean.

Try: flying kites on the beach; shell hunting; kid games with Mom and Dad; sand castle building; surf wrestling; dolphin sighting.

We've always thought Jekyll Island had plenty to do for young kids, maybe needs more for teens. Try Summer Waves Water Park; Tidelands Nature Center for kayaking, nature walks; the Georgia Sea Turtle Center; 4 golf courses and two mini-golf courses; 13 Har-tru tennis courts; lots of places to picnic, swim and explore.

Check out http://www.jekyll-island-family-adventures.com/georgia-beaches.html for more stuff to do on Jekyll Island's beaches!

"Calm pretty beaches"

Great beach for little ones.  No waves, or extremely small waves, like walking into a lake.  Don't need to worry about kids getting hit by waves. Very calm water.  Wide beaches with lots of space!!  Not many people on the beaches.  Very relaxing and fun!  The whole area is a very relaxed feeling.  Not a ton to do on Jekyll Island but definitely a great place to relax and have a calm vacation.  Great place to rent bikes.  Basically flat island and fun and easy to ride around.  Didn't get to kayak, would have loved to do that on the island

"Very nice beaches but not much to do"

The beaches were very nice. We went on walks multiple times a day up and down the beach. One time there were a few dolphins who were playing quite close to the shore. It was a lot of fun to watch them interact.
There are not many activities to do on the island but there are a few things.

"Jekyll Beach"

Jekyll Beach was absolutely beautiful.  The day we visited, it was an easy drive from Savannah, but did hit some storm clouds.  The beach was practically deserted but was such a beautiful setting with outdoor showers as well.  Driftwood beach was aptly named and I got several pictures that were some of the best of our whole vacation there.  Gorgeous.

"Quieter, family beach."

I love Jekyll Island for the fact that it's not overly-commercialized. You can really relax and have fun with the family on the beach, and the bike trails are great. It's such a small, accessible island. We did try to camp there one time, and I agree with the previous poster--the bugs in that area can be brutal! I think we ended up camping on the floor of some friends' hotel room. ;-)   So it's definitely not a place where I'd go back from the camping--but the beaches are nice.

"For family fun, Jekyll Island is the best!"

On Jekyll Island, explore miles of unspoiled beaches, spend days riding bikes as a family around the island discovering wonderful natural abundance, an awesome water park, family-friendly golf, kayaking, mini-golf, no traffic, history, and enjoy time together!

"georgia beach"

we went down to georgia a couple of years ago (only one child then) to visit friends and went to this beach. it was nothing like at home, i think i'm just partial to North Carolina beaches, it seemed very dirty and there were lots of bugs that day. I definitly think i'm biased those as I don't like change.

"Great Beaches"

We love Jekyll Island! The beaches are gorgeous with white sand and it's very smooth. Not a lot of rocks and shells to step on. It is great for small children because the waves are not all that big and it's easy for them to play. It is also a great place for beach combing. You can find great sand dollars and conch shells. We go back again and again.
