"Fun with the Family"

Having celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2004, the Japanese House and Gardenoffers many events that your family might enjoy, including a Japanese tea ceremony presented in the Japanese House. At the annual Children’s Festival, held in May, kids can learn about origami, kimonos, Japanese crafts, dolls, and armor. They can also see a traditional tea ceremony, hear traditional music and stories, and try Japanese food. This event is modeled after the Japanese celebrations of Boys’ Day and Girls’Day. At the Summer Festival in June, kids can participate in the beautiful custom of launching lantern boats.
