Every year, the Japan-America Society of Houston hosts a festival to pays a sincere tribute to Japan. Located in Hermann Park (adjacent to the Japanese Garden), our festival provides access to volumes of crafts, a wide variety of food, continuous martial art demonstrations and an almost endless series of entertainment for the family.
The festival is usually held in April of each year (for one weekend). Admission is free.
The Japan festival is quite small, limited to the surrounding areas of the fountain on by Hermann park. They do have cute games for the kids (ticket based) that seem to be geared to ages 5-10. I purchased a couple of food items as well-- it was a bit pricey (1 slice of sushi roll is $2) but different from the regular carnival food (although the did have American standards too). Not an all day event, just a nice place to stop by with the family.
