The Museum is open First Fridays throughout the year until 9 p.m.
This is a nice smaller art museum. It is very open, making it a good environment for smaller children. They have different exhibits, which are usually really nice. They also have a nice gift shop and courtyard where you can sit and eat a snack or cup of coffee.
The James A. Michener Art Museum, across the street from the Mercer Museum, offers the finest collection of Pennsylvania Impressionist paintings, as well as other important examples of regional contemporary and figurative art. Housed in a renovated historic site that served as the Bucks County Jail from 1884 to 1985, the
museum features a permanent exhibit on James Michener and the Nakashima Reading Room, completely designed and furnished by wood artist George Nakashima. The family education center provides puzzles and discovery boxes for children to explore.
Light snacks are available at the cafe. The Michener Museum has opened a satellite location in New Hope.
