"Fun with the Family"

This area is called the Valley of the Moon, named for famous (some say infamous) resident, Jack London, author of the classic adventure tales Call of the Wild and The Sea Wolf. London’s globe-trotting life early in the twentieth century is portrayed in photos and haunting artifacts in a wonderful Craftsman-style lodge, the “House of Happy Walls.” Once London’s ranch, the park comprises 800 acres of trails, crisscrossed by creeks winding through magnificent groves of oaks, madrones, fir, redwoods, and fern grottoes. You can picnic here in a wild flowery meadow and see the ruins of Wolf House, London’s eccentric stone mansion, found at the end of a 0.5-mile path through the trees (handicapped accessible by golf cart). Only walls and chimneys remain of the elaborate home that burned to the ground a few days before London and his wife, Charmian, could move in. Intrepid hikers will enjoy the steeper trails on the hillsides on the west side of the parking lot and will be rewarded with wide-open views of the valley. The easy 2-mile round-trip Lake Trail goes through the forest to a
lake, where you can picnic under the trees. You can ride your horses in the park; for guided horseback riding, call (707) 996–8566.

"Hike to the redwoods too"

My kids favorite part of this park (we go regularly) is the hiking trail up to the redwoods.  It's a beautiful hike!  For strollers, you'd need a hiking style for sure as the trail is rough in some places.  Lovely spot with very interesting history to explore.

"Great outdoors and museum"

This is defintely one of our family favorites. You have a beautiful park and you are following Jack London steps and life while enjoying the nature. You will visit a museum where you see some of his belongings, his beloved home that was destroyed by a fire, another home where he passed away facing beautiful landscape, and his grave. All these places are not close to one another but they are definitely not far. Bring a picnic, picnic tables are just outside of the entrance.
