Atlanta's only children's museum
The children's museum of atlanta is really very good to imagine. Its not just a fun place but a smart place for kids.Kids build creativity. They learn much from the exhibits of this museum. Its like a learning center and fun at the same time. They learn while they play.We went there few times to make the kids learn some creativity. They are very innovative exhibits.
A fun place for the kids. Imagine it!- this is a smart place to play. Kids not just play but discover things and touch the world they learn.our 4 y.o. son can spend there whole day and play through the entire place- changing rooms and themes.Fun and very smart! I bring a lunch with us too so we don't have to run and look for food.
We got tickets at Half Off Depot because I had been wanting to check this place out, but neither wanting to a) fork over $40 or so for us all to go, nor b) go with the rest of metro Atlanta on the first Tuesday afternoon of the month when it's free. My 4yo son and 18mo daughter had a good time. The huge table full of Moon Sand was their favorite, and they both spent at least an hour there.
We visited there several times, and we LOVE it!! For the first time we went, I was amazed how much stuff and creativity they had. My kids love to go to the paining station and sand box station. Since they change the theme every season, it always feel like something new that kids really enjoy. We loved the curious George theme last summer.
This is one of my 4 year old's favorite places to visit. The location is great, the price is great, and he's allowed to touch things. It's across the street from the water park, so he asks to go here and the park often. I'm not sure a child over 5-6 would enjoy it as much as a younger child, though. Don't skip this if you visit Atlanta.
A fun place where kids can be anything they want to be. Nice for little ones 8 or younger. Has an area where you can take a lunch break from playing and creating. A bit loud and cluttered and 2-3 hours was enough. Creativity with painting and playing in the sand box was especially fun to watch. Price was right as we went on second Tuesday of the month and admission was free!
This was one of the only bigger childrens museum in Atlanta, and I feel like they know that, so they don't put too much effort into making it great. It's exhibits are alright, and not kept up too much, and the staff is downright rude. It's not that big, and they don't really try to add anything special. Pass right by this one if you can.
Even my slightly older elementary-aged children enjoy going here. We have a good time exploring in a different setting. The youngest probably gets the most out of what it is there for, but we all have a great time. Love it too when you can go during home school day! The price is great!
This place is great for kids 8 and younger. My 10 year old was not to impressed but my 7 year old had a blast. I love that they learn while having fun and can see how things work. There are so many kids there and it gets loud. There are also school field trips so it is very busy. i would recomend going later in the day when the field trips have to get back to their schools.
Great fun for parents and kids alike. 2-3 hours is our limit. It's centrally located in the downtown "activities" triangle so you can have a picnic at Centennial Park when you're done. They have activities for every age group and some nice places to breastfeed too.
If you have more then one child, it's best to have another adult with you, since many times I "lost" a child(not for long). If you have toddlers I'd wait til they were closer to 3 yrs old, for the enjoyment, won't get as lost factor. It was fun, but a little pricey since we have to drive awhile to get there. Kids had fun, that is the part that matters, parking is a pain though. They do have food there, that is pretty good, but for us we found it easier just going out to eat when we were all through. If your looking for something to do with in laws coming from out of town, it would be good, other then that, I don't forsee us going there any time soon. There are other activities cheaper that takes us less time to get there.
It has a lot of fun, educational activities for young children and is a reasonable price. They even have a place to eat a picnic lunch. I would not recommend going on one of their free days, it is super packed! The age group that it targets is between 1 and 7.
My kids love the Imagine It museum. There are so many things for them to learn and the change in theme are fun. We have been several times and this changing displays, it never get old. Every educational but lots of fun. Parking can be hard but worth the trip.
This past Saturday I took my two daughters, ages 9 months and 2 1/2 to a Pajama Party at the Children's Museum. It was a nice event with activities for children from about 2 to 8. The website stated that the price of membership could be redeemed with purchased tickets which is apparently not the case for special events. However, many of the activities seemed to be geared to children a little older than mine. I am sure that this would be an excellent outing for parents with children ages 5-7. I may consider joining when my children are older.
I realized after going here, that I am totally spoiled living in the Chicago area. Our children's museums kicked this museum's butt. But it was decent and the kids didn't know the difference. It was more my husband and I thinking "That was kind of a rip off for what we got". It might have been fabulous when it had first opened but it had alot of spots that really needed to be repaired and updated. Overall, the kids had fun so that's what counts.
The Children's Museum in Atlanta has great ideas for activities (painting wall, sand table, grocery store play) but is not well organized. First, the layout is set up as one big room with partitions around some of the exhibits. I found this a hard layout to watch two children running in two different directions. The only area that is truly closed in is the water portion (NOTE - might want to bring a change of clothes for post water play). There are also quite a few blind spots and I found it difficult to let the kids play on different exhibits. The space can also give the feeling that it is quite crowded. Overall, I'm glad we visited, but I don't feel the need to go back anytime soon.
I took my son to this museum for the Sesame Street Exhibit when he was almost 2. He had fun running from station to station, but really didn't want to look at anything. This is probably just the specific exhibit, but it looked shabby and dirty. They do have different exhibits all the time, so I'm sure that it's not like that all the time. I would recommend going with kids who are a little older.
