Best known as Surf City, Huntington Beach is the site for international surfing competitions, drawing 8 million visitors a year.
We love to go here and eat lunch at Ruby's at the end of the pier. They had some great street performers. My favorite part as a mom is that the sand brushes right off. It was cold the day we were there, so my little guy stayed in his sweats. It was not that bad to just brush off before we got in the car.
I visited this beach about 2 years ago. It was so wonderful! The beach has a beautiful shore and lovely water. There is a little shack to get food at too! You can rent bikes and boogie boards right on the beach too. If you go you must eat at Ruby's on the pier! They have the best milkshakes!
If you are looking for THE Southern California beach experience then Huntington Beach is for you. This beautiful and wide expanse of beach is filled with everything you need for a great summer day at the beach from bike trails (and beach cruiser rentals) to surfers to a pier. When we have friends from out of state come out who want to have that California beach experience, this is where we take them. Its clean, its gorgeous, and its tons of fun.
This beach is fun during the day and at night! So far this is the only beach I have found that has pits for bon fires at night :) What better way to spend a summer night with your friends than to makes smores, talk, and hang out around the warm fire on a cool night?
This is an excellent bike path to enjoy day or night. away from traffic and wide enough to go at whatever pace you like. Bring a sweat shirt for the little ones it does tend to get chilly and a bit windy toward the evening hours. I recommend the bike seat whent the little one is at least 1 1/2 it gets too windy the charriot style latch is a lot better to block some of the air.
