The Galleria has established itself as the #1 shopping and tourist destination in Houston with over 24 million annual visitors. Set beneath spectacular glass atriums, The Galleria features more than 375 fine stores and restaurants, an impressive ice rink and two Westin hotels. This world-class shopping complex showcases the best names in retailing including Neiman Marcus, Cartier, Gucci, two Macy's stores, Tiffany & Co., Saks Fifth Avenue, Ralph Lauren Collection, Louis Vuitton and Houston's only Nordstrom.

This is a mega-mall, more geared for higher-end shopping given it's anchor department stores are SAKS, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Macy's. If you're coming with your little ones, head to the Little Galleria which is on the 2nd level by Borders. Just beware because there are lots of little shoppers running around there and it's quite crowded.
The Polar Ice Galleria ice skating rink is quite fun to visit in the holiday season, but it's definitely not cheap.
There are lots of eating options from the Rainforest Cafe near the skating rink to my little guy's favorite - FROZEN YOGURT!
Galleria in Houston is one of the largest shopping malls that i have ever seen .It is a wonderful place to visit during the week ends. This shopping mall was very close to my apartment probably 5-10 min walk. I love shopping at Macy's, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. There are many sales going on in those shops. There is also a small play area for the kids . I have gone there many times but i have not seen this mall completely as it is very big.
This shopping mall has every shop and more then you are looking for. Shops range from Aeropostale, Urban Outfitteres to Louis Vuitton and Chanel. The kids enjoy this mall because they can ran around, eat good food (cheesecake factory, sonic, rainforest cafe, etc) at the food court and then go ice skate on the first floor! The mall is 3 stories tall. Parking can be a hassle, but is not impossible. There are numerous places to park.
This is definitely a great place to go shopping. They have tons of stores, ones on the really pricey side but they also have ones that aren't too bad. When I lived there, they had just added on a new section which was great and I was really happy about that. They also have a skating rink for those that enjoy ice skating. Their food court is also large and you have plenty of choices.
The Houston Galleria is amazing-it is definitely a site to see. The Galleria is an extremely high end shopping mall.
For the average income family, the Galleria is a fun window shopping experience. My friends and I had a great deal of fun browsing, pointing and lusting over designer items.
The Galleria is a fun place to go if you are looking for something really special, have a little extra money to spend, or just love designer clothing.
I usually only go to the Galleria during the Christmas season to shop at specialty shops but I will go every 2 or 3 months during the year. The only reason I could see to bring your children here (unless you're having a family shopping day) is for the ice rink downstairs. It's open all the time and you can go down and skate for awhile. My little ones didn't much care for the rink because they couldn't take their hockey sticks with them but it's fun if you just want to pass the time while your wife or someone else shops.
The parking can be a mess and the traffic in that area isn't great (but it has gotten better). In my opinion it's better to just stay on whatever side of town you're on and just go to the mall. Unless you're in need of special stores like Gucci, Prada, etc... you can honestly just shop at your local mall.
We've been to the Galleria many times, but as a middle income family it's a bit above our price range. The food court is really good and has a lot of variety, there is a really fun ice rink inside that the kids can enjoy, and the attached hotel is really nice!! We do not, however, do a lot of actual shopping here as the stores are all upscale.
Or better yet, stay at home yourself. Yes, there is a great ice skating ring that I hate to miss out on, but there are also other skating rings in Houston that I can take my kids to with out paying for parking, getting mugged in the garage (okay, it didn't happen to me but I have heard too many stories from friends, acquaintances and strangers), and schlepping across 38 acres of mall just to strap on the skates. Unless you really want to give your kids a glimpse of mega consumerism, or unless your toddler really enjoys shopping at Gucci, this is not a fun place for families.
Indoor skating rink, hundreds of stores and restaurants make it a great place to sroll indoors with babies or shop alongside kids.
