This hidden wilderness park is located in Redondo Beach but once you're there, you wouldn't know that you're in LA any more (and near the beach) with the exception of being able to see some of the surrounding homes around the outskirts of the park.
My young kiddos (4 yo and 2 yo) thoroughly enjoyed running through the hilly trails and exploring the ponds and streams. We got to see koi fish, turtles and ducks. It was so peaceful hearing the birds chirp away and the sound of the flowing streams. There is a coin-operated (quarters only) machine where you can buy duck food. Day or overnight camping is available by reservation. There are resting benches throughout the park as well as public restrooms. It's a great place to be out in nature. I liked that it was so close to home but felt like we were in another place entirely. Very accessible for my family. We will definitely be back again and hope to do some overnight camping in the near future.
