During September and October the park's historic apple orchard is opened for picking by the public Wednesday through Sunday. The park's orchard includes many historic varieties not normally available in today's markets. Length of season and availability of varieties depends upon the success of the growing season. The apples are sold by the pound.

Although open year-round, the site is most active in summer, when authentically costumed artisans demonstrate their crafts. Mother’s Day is sheep-shearing day.
