"Ride the ponies!"

My kids love Carousels!  It's not too expensive and the museum that is attached is more like a play area.  There are plenty of things for the kids to do and not be bored.  The price to enter and to ride is affordable!  The kids will not tire of the indoor play area, but if they did there is a huge lawn for them to run around and get some energy out!

"Fun with the Family"

Holyoke Heritage State Park is an eight-acre complex of enormous mill buildings andoutdoor spaces, with exhibits about the city’s growth. There are three main attrations for families here: the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round, the Children’s Museum, and the Volleyball Hall of Fame.
Children’s Museum (age 8 and under), 444 Dwight Street, Holyoke; (413) 536-KIDS or (413) 536-7048; www.childrensmuseumholyoke.org. Open Wednesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4:00 p.m. Admission: $6 for adults, $3 for seniors, and free for children under 1. The Children’s Museum emphasizes family participation in educational games and interactive exhibits. Make your own paper or try your hand at one of the mock-ups of local businesses, including a “working” TV station.
Holyoke Merry-Go-Round, 221 Appleton Street, Holyoke; (413) 538-9838. Open weekends noon to 4:00 p.m. from September through May and daily from noon to 4:00 p.m. in summer and during Holyoke school vacations. Price: $1 per ride. The antique merry-go-round was built in 1929 in Philadelphia. Housed in a colorful new building near the entrance to the park, the large carousel has forty-eight horses and two chariots, all carved by hand, plus a loud, cheerful band organ.
Volleyball Hall of Fame, 444 Dwight Street (at Heritage State Park), Holyoke; (413) 536-0926; www.volleyhall.org. Open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for ages 6 through 17 and seniors, and free for ages 5 and under. A look at this sport’s history.
