CLOSED IN JULY 2006. PLANNING FOR EXPANSION AND RENAMING TO THE LA MUSEUM IN PROCESS.
This museum, which opened in 1996, is the Smithsonian of the film and television world, a la L.A.: gaudy, brassy, and neon-lit. It’s a monument to Hollywood’s glitzyand glamorous past and provides a behind-the-set look at the nuts-and-bolts mechanics of the movie and TV industry, from sound effects to scenery. There are high-tech and multimedia exhibits, too. Small-group tours are available with savvy guides.
