This is a fun and free attraction regardless of when you go, but it's relatively quiet during the week. Spend time visiting the reindeer, camel, model train, koi pond, and then wander around Swansons teaching kids about plants. Grab a cup of coffee or snack too since there's plenty of seating at the cafe during the weekdays.
Last year, right before Christmas, we headed over to Swanson's nursery to meet some reindeer. What a fun Christmas activity that was! We took photos of the reindeer and the camel, wandered around and looked at plants, posed for photos in the mini sleighs, browsed the gift shop, and then actually petted some of the hugest koi that I have ever seen! And best of all, all this fun was free!
Where else can you see a live reindeer up close and personal??? Swanson's has them! http://www.swansonsnursery.com/ During the holiday season they bring the reindeer out and have them in a pen for visitors to see. They feed them twice a day and it gets a little crowded during this time so be sure to get your spot up close! They also have a weekend where they have a more "tame" reindeer come to take pictures with people. So cute for holiday cards!
Santa roams around at different times of day and there is an elaborate model train set for kids to check out too.
There is a nice gift shop and good restaurant here with huge koi to feed. We ate breakfast here - it was great and the kids liked it. If you aren't from the area they will ship a little of the Northwest home for you.
