"All aboard!"

Everything you want to know about transportation you can learn at the North Carolina Transportation Museum at Historic Spencer Shops. The Spencer Shops was once the largest steam locomotive servicing station operated by the Southern Railway.

Built in 1896 and now a State Historic Site, it features exhibits on the development of vehicles, from the dugout canoe to the airplane. You can also see vintage automobiles and take a train ride through the fifty-seven-acre facility that includes thirteen buildings.
