Hill Ridge Farms is a kids fun land with things to bounce on, climb, slide, and more. We visited during October for the pumpkin patch experience (although it appears they have different events throughout the year depending on the season) and it was unbelievably crowded for a rainy day. Hayride, corn sandbox, hayjump, slide, climbing fort, toddler mazes, and more! The kids love it because there are so many activities for them to do, but parents may find it a bit commercialized and expensive. Admission starts at $10 going all the way to $20. You must still purchase additional tickets if you wish to go on the train, race ducks, feed the ducks, etc. The pumpkins are purchased pumpkins that scattered in a field. This farm does a great job of keeping things moving - plenty of hayrides to the patch, attendants at the activities making sure everyone gets a turn, pig races for the lull while waiting for a hayride. If it is forecasted to rain, keep in mind that they do not offer rain checks and all seating is uncovered.
Hill Ridge Farms is located just outside of Wake Forest and near Raleigh NC. The fall festival at the farm is a lot of fun and includes picking your own pumpkin after the hay ride to a big grassy area. There are a variety of things to do on the farm including mazes, a train ride, gem stone panning, a big tube slide, a corn pit (lots of fun!), animal corral, teepee and many exhibits.
Know if you go: The general admission for the Fall Festival does not automatically include the train ride, pony rides, gem panning or games on the farm. Weekdays during the fall season are a good time to go if you do not want to wait in lines for the kids to play but don't mind missing out on events like the live music. General admission: $10/person, Superpass: $20/person
