Heavenly installed a new 5 lane tubing hill at Adventure Peak in the Winter of 2010. The tubing hill is serviced by a covered magic carpet. The hill is over 500 feet long with a 65 feet vertical drop. Rider have to be 40 inches tall to ride it. Adventure peak is accessed via the Gondola (ticket is separate unless you already have a lift ticket) or via ski slopes. Younger kids can rent a sled in the same area for $10 and slide down a gentle sledding hill.
We have only stayed in Heavenly once or twice but my kids adore the gondola and we go back every time we visit tahoe! Its a breathtaking view and my children love to "fly." I always get a "look mom we can see our house from here, we are so high up!" Its an attraction i wouldnt want to miss and always enjoy our visit! My children don't get to skii of course but my husband and I just talked about trying sledding with the tubes the next time we go. My son is pretty adventurous and the staff all over heavenly are wonderful. I would recommended heavenly to most families, newborns might be hard of course but my daughter who was only 2 at the time we went last seemed very happy.
