"Go Tubing Elsewhere!"

Our first trip to Hawksnest was several years ago when they only had one hill for tubing and were still open for skiing. The slopes were extremely fast and you could make it all the way to the bottom w/o slowing down or stopping. Unfortunately, there now appears to be more emphasis on profits instead of ensuring a positive customer experience.

We paid $32 per person for a 1 hour and 45 minute session on a Thursday during Christmas Break (12/30/10). I knew it was going to be expensive, but I didn't expect to get tapped for another $5 to park my car. Parking used to be free.

My online reservation was in order, but still had to wait in line with those who had not prepaid. Seems like they should offer another window for those who prepaid to speed up the process and reward their online customers. Just my 2-cents.

I was excited to see that Hawksnest had several different hills to choose from for tubing. This would help break up the crowd, but we soon found ourselves waiting in a long line to go down the original tubing hill. All the other hills were slow and you would stop halfway down and have to walk the rest of the way. Even the original hill was disappointing and stopping about 2/3 the way down was not uncommon. Hawksnest didn't properly groom the runs, so riders would often crossover into other lanes. When riders could no longer stay in a particular lane, the staff would simply close the lane instead of manually repairing the lane by building the retaining wall back up.

As for the staff members working the crowd at the top and bottom of the runs, they never smiled or engaged the customers. One staff member working at the top of the original hill was constantly yelling at customers for walking up a service driveway instead of taking the very slow moving sidewalk. There were no signs prohibiting taking the driveway so how were riders to know beforehand?

This is my last trip to Hawksnest. My wife made the statement that we had more fun sledding in our own backyard. Next year, we'll try neighboring Ski Beech or drive longer to Winterplace in WV.

"Rude and over priced"

Don't waste your time here for a family get away or a trip for a youth group. Tickets are over priced for what you get. The staff is very rude and unwilling to work with you in any way. It was our first and last trip to Hawksnest. Go somewhere else.... Don't waste your time or money here.Church groups stay away
