"OK Classic!"

I like not love this ride.  My three year old loves the dark so I felt she would do fine in this ride and I was right.  I will say it is probably not for all three year old's, it is a little spooky for little ones.  The beginning of the ride they cram a lot and I mean a lot of people in an elevator and begin to spook you with some talk of ghosts.  Then you are shuffled into the moving carts and taken on a ride through some spooky scenes.  The elevator part is the part that makes me uncomfortable because it feels like to many people in a small, cramped, dark place.  That being said it is the right set up for a spooky ride.

"Ghostly fun!"

As long as your kids aren't easily scared, this ride is fun.  Most of the ride, with maybe the first 5 minutes as the exception, is hardly scary and just silly fun.  The beginning elevator and walkthrough to get to the actual "buggies" are the most intimidating part for kids (I can remember being scared of the elevator room).
At Christmas, the ride is tranformed into the Nightmare before Christmas and it is a cute place for fans of this movie to enjoy Jack in his glory.
If you kids do get scared, there is an exit in the hallway before you get in your buggy-- I know because we have used it! :)
The ride does have a tendancy to stop a few times during your visit as they have to stop the moving walkway to allow handicapped riders to get in their cart.  Being prepared for this can help you ease your little ones fears if this happens.
*At Christmas, this ride has a fastpass.
