"Making Chevre in the Sunshine"

If tiny baby goats send you over the edge, prepare for an apoplectic fit.  Each spring Harley Farms welcomes about 200 new kids, some of which are available for your kids to play with.  Sign up for one of their excellent, informative tours ($20 for adults, $10 for kids 5-10, Free under 5 years), and you will be able to visit all of their goats in the pasture, as well as cuddling their babies in their separate paddock.

LEARN TO MAKE GOAT CHEESE

Of course, in addition to playing with the goats (who are friendly and love people!),  you will tour the dairy, learn how cheeses are made, create a little chevre of your own, and then enjoy your creations in the gorgeous farmhouse dining room.  I loved the ultra-mild Monet cheese that we tried, which has no goaty flavor at all.  Because there are no male goats on the premises, the cheeses have none of the strong odor typically associated with goat cheese.

ENJOY A FARM DINNER

Several times a year, Harley Farms puts on an elegant, 5-hour, 5 course farm dinner with locally sourced ingredients in season.  Although this epic feast will probably not appeal to kids, it would make an excellent date night!
You can take home a little something from the delightful cheese shop, which sells many of their fresh cheeses, as well as eggs from their chickens, local honey, soaps, and many gift items.  I picked up an adorable set of Goat Milk Baby Balm, Goat Milk Baby Bath, and a little wooden goat toy for a baby shower gift.
