This museum is a great distraction for your little busybees! Your young children are probably not terribly excited to visit another quilt shop or buffet, so why not take them to a place made just for them for a little while? This is an inside adventure that is sure to give your little ones a chance to get the wiggles, giggles, and sillies out! The exhibits are great, hands on, exciting, and geared for learning. Our personal favorite was the last exhibit, the machine shop. You follow the process of a factory all the way to completion. My boys would have spent another hour or two in this museum, but in the end we were there for sightseeing. I only wish we had something similar near us. Totally worth a visit, if you have the time!
We recently visited our friends in Lancaster and went with them to the Children's Museum. It was really lovely! It is NOT a big place to visit and would not occupy an entire day but they had wonderful diversions to last a few hours. There are very fun, well thought out exhibits (and many that center on farming) and it was very clean and well run. Definitely somewhere we will visit again!
This museum is a great stop for kids toddler age through 1st or 2nd grade. It has a lot of hands on exhibits from dress up to face painting to farm games. Older children will find it boring. But young children will happily spend hours inside. It is quite small, but the price is not too steep so you don't feel ripped off. They have an outside play area which, like the inside, is fun, but small. Definately worth a visit for 3-5 year olds.
The museum has eight interactive areas for children ages two through ten, including the exhibit “E-I-E-I-KNOW,” which teaches kids about farming in Lancaster County through computer touch-screens, interactive games, and hands-on exhibits. The Hands-On House is on the grounds of the Landis Valley Museum, all on one level, completely wheelchair and stroller accessible.
