Its a very very small place, with hardly some few animals and birds & not much in there. But it can be helpful when you dont want to travel very far and still want to entertain kids on weekends. Also zoo's are educational so can be fine. But dint find much options for food as well! Small place less animals and birds...not veryentertaining...overall not anything great!
First, the address is not correctly listed for those of you GPS-ers:
Greenville Zoo
150 Cleveland Park Drive
Greenville, SC 29601
Secondly, the Greenville Zoo is fabulous, fun, family place. It is clean and spacious, shady paths, and not overwheleming for the 3 and under crowd. The playgrounds and walking trails outside the zoo are just as wonderful as the zoo itself. Cost of admission is about $7 for adults, $4.50 for kids 3-15 and free under 3. The year pass is worth the price. They also have annual passes that include "grandparents" which is nice and worth it if the Grands come to the zoo at least once or twice. The zoo itself takes about 2 hours to go through and then the park outside is a nice place for a picnic lunch. Morning weekdays are best for no crowds and lots of animal activity.
Boo in the Zoo during October is also a fun Trick or Treat event in the zoo where everyone dresses up and kids have a fun place to get lots of treats.

This zoo is on a smaller scale, but worth the visit. They have a gift shop and snack bar in the middle of the zoo that is great for a break. You can also pack a lunch to eat. There is a great park in front of the entrance with lots of picnic tables and equipment for the kids to play. The have a very nice reptile display. It is also a nice place to cool off after visiting all the animals outdoors. The whole zoo is very shaded with beautiful trees and vegetation everywhere. I would highly recommend season passes because you can use them to get into other, larger zoo for free and get discounts at the gift shops as well.
This Greenville zoo is a fun place to take the kids. It is an easy walk and you can get up close to a lot of animals. The zoo also offers the option to buy animal snacks to feed the animals as you walk through. When you're done at the zoo the park on the other side of the parking lot is always the hit for the kids. It has picnic shelters and some of the most up to date playground equipment around. Check it out.
Way too small. Spent $8 to feed animals and couldnt feed anything but few birds.. Rest of the animals were on special diets???..It was a waste of money. The terrain is very hilly and may be difficult for people with walking disabilities,my mom has had back surg. before and made it hard for her! animals/restrooms were smelly too!
The Greenville Zoo is a fantastic size for a quick afternoon get-a-way with the kids. It's an older zoo and with that you get to be much closer to the animals. There is even a small farm at the end. When I say small, I mean small, but I have to say my kids love it. And when you leave the zoo walk over to the outstanding park that's right outside the zoo gates.
Check out Greenville, South Carolina's zoo. It is said to be one of the country's top small zoos. Having come from a city that has a fabulous but expensive zoo, I was curious to see what this zoo might hold. After paying for a family pass and buying some crackers to feed the animals we began our trek. The Greenville Zoo is not very big but I have to say that I like that. It is very manageable for a family with young children and there are no added attractions with extra fees making it an affordable family outing.Plus the kids were able to get pretty close to the animals.
As we walked around we found many opportunities to feed some of the animals. The tortoises, after a nap in the warm sun, were more than happy to oblige us.
Right around the corner from the tortoises was a playground and a pergola with Adirondack chairs for the parents to kick back while the kids burn off some energy. It was a nice little respite. But we were ready to see some orangutans. We had heard that they were very entertaining. The adult orangutans, Mia and Chelsea looked worn out from their toddler, Bob. We found him hanging upside down, swinging like, well, an orangutan . Anna and Gavin began acting like primates themselves so that was our clue to move on to lunch.
Just right outside of the zoo is a fabulously designed playground, the likes I have never seen before. It has two separate areas: one for toddlers and one for older kids. Both the play areas are covered by canvas like roofs to help with the heat in the summer. Everyone had a great time and we all decided we were glad we had bought the family pass.
