"MagiQuest!"

We've made it a tradition to start out our homeschooling year at a waterpark hotel. This year, we decided to go to Great Wolf Lodge in Concord because of the MagiQuest in the hotel. It was AWESOME! My girls (9 and 12) are avid fans of the MagiQuest game; having one just outside their hotel room door was great! I could sit in the room and work while they ran around (sometimes in PJs) playing the game. Of course, we loved the waterpark too ... I just wish there were more outdoor water activities.

"Fun, Fun, Fun"

This is an awesome place.  It has so many activities for all ages.  We took 2 nine year olds and they were sooo entertained in the water park.  We were only there one night and that was plenty of time if you wanted a quick get away.  I believe you need more time there if you wanted to do all the other activites they offer.  We will definitely be back...even if it is a little on the pricey side.

"Expensive...but doesn't disappoint"

We have taken our daughter here for both her 8th and 9th birthdays and were impressed on both occasions. This is not a cheap overnight for families, but if you avoid the unnecessary extras being marketed by the hotel you'll keep more cash in your wallet without missing a stitch of fun.

If you've ever been to a Disney Park, treat Great Wolf Lodge in the same manner. While on hotel property, expect to pay through the nose for meals or other perks. The only meal we consumed at the hotel was Personal Pan Pizzas from their Pizza Hut Express, which was comparably priced to those at any large airport. As for breakfast the following morning, we jumped in the car and went to the end of the block to eat at Bob Evans restaurant.

One of the marketing perks Great Wolf Lodge tries to sell is MagiQuest® where kids get a wand to explore the hotel common areas with to find hidden clues for a game. Don't waste your money. Remember, you came for the waterpark and not the hocus pocus. Trust me, if you head straight to the waterpark the kids will forget all other distractions.

The rooms are equipped with a fridge if you want to bring some snacks for between meals. I think there was a microwave too, but I can't remember because we didn't use it. By the way, we did get one of the themed rooms because our daughter brought a best friend along. It was worth the extra money because they got their own little hideaway and TV. I can only take so much SpongeBob. ;)

You can continue to use the waterpark after checkout, so the fun doesn't end at 11 a.m. After breakfast, we usually pack up and checkout but head back to the waterpark where we stay until about 2 p.m. We pack a separate bag for clothes to change into after using the showers in the waterpark's private facilities. Just another tip to maximize your time at GWL.

"Howling Ambivalence "

The Great Wolf Lodge is a chain of destination hotels in a number of locations, all of which have in common that there's nothing there to go to except the Great Wolf Lodge. Basically, they're trying for a theme park hotel and they come pretty close.

All Great Wolf Lodges have an indoor and outdoor waterpark, as well as a lobby decked out in mountain chic, along with a few creepy animatronic things for kids.

What they're most famous for, though, is the MagiQuest game running at all hotels. This (expensive) game sets players up with an instruction book, a magic wand and lots of time. The kids race through designated areas of the hotel trying to find the plot tokens of a fantasy novel.

This Great Wolf Lodge is significantly smaller than the version in Dallas, TX. Still, it made for an all right overnight with mine and the brother-in-law's family.

"Hotel and Water Park in one!"

For a special occasion this water park hotel can't be beat. It offers fun for everyone - a great plac for a family reunion. It is a little pricy, but well worth it. It's not something you would do every month - but it's a great vacation spot. Older kids can pay $30 and receive an electronic wand which they then use on a scavanger hunt throughout the hotel. Dinner and breakfast are both large buffets - about $16 a peron. You can only use the water park if you rent a room. Check in time is 3 and check out time is 11. However, you are allowed to use the water park both before and after you check in and out so you get lots of time in the park

"Mini Family Vac"

My family of 5 and my parents went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord in July.  We went on a Thursday and stayed until Sunday.  Our kids are 11, 4, and 1.  We stayed in the kid cabin suite.  There was something for us all.  We are looking forward to going back as soon as we can!  There hotel was booked on Saturday but we were not crowded at the water park.  There is so much to do there not everyone is in the same place at the same time!

"Great Wolf Lodge"

Water Heaven! for all ages. There's even a special baby pool. Built in the Old West style like a lodge it's a spectacular getaway for a family who loves the water. There's a toddler pool and even a Spa for the grownups to unwind. Be sure to sign up for emails for special deals. They will even accomodate your special group. Best of all the water in the water park is always warm.
