"Great fall color"

This is a beautiful place to spend a lazy afternoon.  I used to come here all the time with my family when I was a child and now I love to bring my kids.  We used to feed the ducks (although I won't recommend that now!) and just enjoy the peaceful surroundings.  During my school days, we took field trips to the mill and learned all about it's role in the Underground Railroad, as well as how people lived during those times.  But my favorite memory is taking wedding pictures here on my wedding day.  The fall colors were beautiful and my wedding party had a great time!

"Corn Fest"

The best time to visit Graue Mill is during their annual Corn Fest in September.   They have Uncle Bub's BBQ catering and homemade pies and sweets to buy.  They also have lots of games for the kids to play.  The parking is tough, but if you like hiking, park at the forest preserve and walk over.  It is not a long walk, but not good for strollers.  They do provide shuttle service for those who can't walk far.

"Hidden treasure in Oakbrook"

I used to come here with my family all the time when I was a little girl. It's so wonderful that it's still around and still open to the public! I plan on bringing my boys here over the summer. Make sure you call ahead to check and see if there's any special kids activities going on at the time. The whole area surrounding the mill is beautiful too for hiking and exploring. Plus the kids can get a little history lesson while they're there and have fun doing it!

"great picture place"

Haven't been here with my daughter yet but went a lot as a kid.  lots of trails to hike/walk.  not sure how stroller friendly they are.  there is the museum with a minimal cost for the tour that could be interesting.  in the fall i do know that you can get some great pictures of the little ones with all the changing colors.

"Hands-on History"

This stop on the Underground Railroad holds interest for adults, but their kids' activities are also excellent.  On the day we were there, they had a scavenger hunt, and our son got to help turn the wheel to grind the grain.  After visiting, take time to relax along the creek or in the adjacent park.  This is one of Chicago's hidden treasures.
