We've attended the North Pole Express and Day Out With Thomas at this railroad and have been pleased with both. Activities outside of the train ride are inflatables, crafts, pictures (with Santa/Thomas/SirT), and lots of toys to purchase! Also a miniature train set to observe.
One of our family's favorite Christmas traditions is the Polar Express. Our kids love wearing their pajamas--the whole thing is pretty magical through their eyes. Best advice if you want to go and need a specific day/time is to get your tickets early in the season as they do sell out of the most popular times pretty quickly.
We visited this railroad for their wine event. It was fun, but not quite what we were expecting. It seemed advertised as a more upscale event. Though what we ended up with was a small boxed lunch in wooden seats. Most of the wine was ok. It was warm out, but the windows being open helped too cool it down. They also had musicians playing up and down the aisles.
The vintage steam train (see under Grapevine later in the chapter) makes round-trip excursions from Grapevine to Fort Worth’s Stockyards Historic District seasoally, except in January when it’s closed for maintenance. You may purchase a one-way ticket at the Stockyards Station Depot or take a short afternoon excusion ride in Fort Worth.
