This steam excursion train, pulled by a restored 1896 steam locomotive, makes a 21-mile run from Grapevine’s Cotton Belt Depot to the Stockyards Historic District in Fort Worth. The train runs through the Trinity River valley, following the route of the old Chisholm Cattle Trail, and across an old trestle. After a layover in the Stockyards, the train returns to Grapevine—watch it turn around on the 1927 Santa Fe turntable. Don’t miss the Grapevine Heritage Center in the restored 1901 Cotton Belt Railroad train station (free admission). It houses railroad memorabilia as well as several exhibits on the history of Grapevine and casts of dinosaur tracks found nearby.
