There are many exciting animal encounters possible at Grant's Farm, the 281-acre ancestral home of the Busch family. The Farm is home to more than 1,000 animals representing more than 100 different species from six continents.
I could go on and on about how fantastic Grant's Farm is. The line is usually long, but you forget once you're in. It starts off as a train ride through the park. You see and learn about a lot of unique animals. Then you're dropped off by a goat petting/feeding area, elephants, birds, and a bunch of other animals. The kids all love feeding the goats. Then there is a food/beer area that would remind you of a town square that's surrounded by stables for the incredible Clydesdales, horses, cows and more. If you're going to St Louis, put Grants Farm and the zoo at the top of your list!
Advice: Only use an umbrella stroller. You'll have to collapse it for the train ride, so you don't want a giant travel system with you.
What a great place to take your kids of all ages! Start out with a train ride through the grounds which are beautiful and full of animals. Then you stop where you can feed some goats and see a few shows about animals. Finally you can go to the food court where can get one complimentary Anheuser Busch beer and see the Clydsdale horses you see on commercials. Just a beautiful property to go visit.
This is a must to see when visiting STL. It is simply breath taking when you see the many animals in their natural surroundings. The petting zoo was absolutely fabulous! I will definitely go back! The rolling hills and the carriage rides were awesome.
We really enjoyed the serene outdoor setting and tram ride through to get to the gardens. There is a wide variety of animals. You DO have to pay to park, but it's still a very reasonable price for an afternoon activity. Easy to take along a stroller. Make sure to visit the goats...where you can actually feed them bottles...was not as impressed with the elephant show, but overall, this is a great place!
I highly recommend a half day trip to Grant's Farm! Our 18 month old loved it! As did my husband and I! The tram ride through the park was a welcome event to a little boy who loves 'choo choos', and it gave us the opportunity to see a great deal of animals, in their 'natural' habitats, with us coming in to see them without them seeming caged up. Throughout the tram ride our driver gave us a whole wealth of information regarding U. S. Grant and the Busch family, all of which were intriguing and worth hearing! After the tram ride was over we headed to the childrens petting zoo, where kids were even able to give bottles to baby goats. It was one of the better 'petting zoos' I've ever seen, and there were a lot of other 'non petting' exhibits as well.
There were a lot of snack stands and places to grab a bite if you need to, and you don't feel overly guilty about eating out after getting in for free!
Overall an incredible trip. I don't know that you could spend the whole day there, but it's great for a half day trip!
My kids were in heaven. Tons of hands on things. THe petting zoo is great. There are a ton of animals. Again, love St. Louis for all the free attractions. They offer some great food throughout the park. My children were in awe of the clydesdales. This place is super clean and the staff is friendly. This is such a great family friendly place. I would totally recommend this as a top ten stop in St. Louis.
You only have to pay for parking to visit Grant's Farm. We rode a train ( which you could bring your stroller on) through some land where you saw the Annheuser Busch mansion, and lots of different types of animals. When you pull into the actual zoo part there aren't too many animals but enough to keep you busy for an hour or two. They have a fun bird show and a fun elephant show. We packed a lunch but they have an area where you can buy food. They also have Clydesdale horses on display in two different places at the park. For sure worth the money to park your car.
What an awesome place. This is a free attraction minus the parking fee. You can spend money if you want feeding the animals. The goats are a blast to feed, they love to climb on you. Be careful if you have little ones, it can be intimidating for them. It is a great family place. It can get very busy on opening weekend!!! Make sure to check the schedule...they are closed on Mondays!!!
Grant's Farm is not exactly free, since you have to pay a bunch for parking, and there is no other place to park. It's always very crowded and if it's hot, waiting in line for the tram to and from the animal area is pretty brutal. But - there are fun animals to see and interact with (feeding goats bottles, an elephant show), and beer samples for the adult if you can get to them. :)
We had a multi-generational family reunion in Saint Louis and put Grant's Farm on our agenda. It was well worth it. It was definitely kid-friendly and stroller friendly. Lots to see, including animal shows. There were also a few exhibits for kids to climb on. The only drawback was the food. There were long lines and mainly outdoor eating.
Grant's Farm is an awesome experience for families. There is a fee to park in the parking lot, but admission is free. Families take a tram ride through acres of land where the animals just roam free. You'll see cows, buffalo and deer all up close and personal. The tram takes you to the park which has more animal exhibits. There is a goat pen where you can feed small goats bottles of milk and you can brush their coats. There are two great shows with trainers and performing animals that you won't want to miss. You'll also be able to feed lamas and camels dry food from your hand. There is a big outdoor restaurant area and while the prices are a bit high, you do get a lot of food in return. Since the park is operated by Anheuser Busch-InBev, people over 21 get free beer samples. There is also a Clydesdale stable located near the parking lot and you can see the horses and get a souvenir photo taken on top of one.
I moved to Central Coast Cali 3 years ago and I miss Grants farm so much. We used to have to much fun riding around looking at all the animals. Feeding the goats was always a blast for the kids. For a free day trip ($5 to park is all!) you can't be it! Pack a lunch and have a great time :-)
Admission is free, but you must pay for parking, approx. $11 a carload. There can be long lines to get into the park so be prepared for a wait. Inside there is a tram that takes you on a tour through the animal's habitat, some can come right up to the tram. Once at the other end of the park there is a petting zoo where you can purchase bottles to feed baby animals, animal shows, a gift shop, eating areas and the area to see the Clydsdales. A
Goats, goats goats! So much fun to feed them bottles, but beware! They are aggressive little buggars! There are many other exotic animals to feed as well. One of the best viewing points was the long tram ride into the farm, where long-horned cattle will come right up to the cars, along with many, many other animals from 6 continents of the world. My toddler especially loved the mist-sprinklers, so I recommend bringing a change of clothes for kids that age. And Mom and Dad are treated to 2 free beers each! There is also a carousel, and the farm is free! Parking is $11 a car though, but many people park across the highway and walk for a less-expensive day!
280 acres of privately owned land. Train takes you through the property where animals are roaming free. End up at a petting zoo where you can feed goats, watch an elephant show and see exotic birds and animal entertainment. Used to have free alcohol for parents (owned by Busch Family) but that may have changed in 2009. Cute german inspired town and cafe at the end of your trip. Entrance is paid by per car fee, so pile in all together to save money!
