Grant Grove is a great place to experience the grandeur and impressive size of the Sequoia trees. The General Grant Tree is the widest tree on the planet and one of the largest. Standing beside this tree is impressive to say the least. There are wooden fences that keep visitors from actually standing too close to the tree. I wish we could get closer but there are so many irresponsible people out there who carve on the trees and destroy the surrounding plant life. Be sure to walk through the Fallen Monarch and experience what it is like to be inside a Sequoia. Very cool. And also be sure not to write or carve on this monument. I can't tell you how disgusted I was by the graffiti. The Grant Grove area offers many different trails which will suit all different skill levels and definitely leave an impression. My neck was sore the next morning from staring up at those marvelous trees.
