"Fun with the Family"

If in L.A., the celebrities are all on the beach in Malibu; in Palm Springs they’re probably on the golf course. Although many clubs are private, there are several beautiful courses open to the public. Remember, a licensed driver is required for any golf cart, and only two people per cart. Greens fees are substantially reduced at most desert courses in the summer.
Tahquitz Creek Golf Academy. 1885 Golf Club Drive; (760) 328–1005; Junior and adult clinics can be arranged. $$

Cimarron Golf Club. 67–603 Thirtieth Avenue, Cathedral City; (760) 770–6060; Golfers of all ages will find the thirty-six holes at this club sheer paradise. There is a short (Pebble) and a long (Boulder) course. Inquire about golf clinics and other events. Tee times can be booked up to sixty days in advance. Children under fifteen are eligible for discount rates. $$$$
The Golf Resort at Indian Wells. 44–400 Indian Wells Lane; (760) 346–GOLF; Two Ted Robinson–designed championship courses. Tee

Desert Willow Golf Resort. 38–995 Desert Willow Drive, Palm Desert; (760) 346–0015 or (800) 320–3323; There is an excellent junior golf program offered on a daily basis. Inquire about summer golf camps. $$$$
Tommy Jacob’s Bel Air Greens. 1001 South El Cielo; (760) 322–6062. Family-style golf during the season (January through April). Eighteen short holes on a beautiful course for adults and kids (they call it a putt-putt course). This is an all par 3 layout. The nine-hole Executive Course is ideal for juniors and adults. The
ProTour Classic Short Game School offers lessons. Children age eighteen and younger pay $10 for nine holes of golf. $$$
Tahquitz Creek Palm Springs. 1885 Golf Club Drive; (760) 328–1005 or (800) 743–2211; Here is the place to enjoy resort golf “without paying for the rest of the resort.” The club has two Arnold Palmer–managed courses, Resort and Legend, both rated four-star by Golf Digest magazine. All-inclusive golf packages feature breakfast, lunch, greens fees, cart, and more. $$$
