Absolutely beautiful park on the beach. Grab a soft serve cone or sundae across the street at Little Coney Island while enjoying the surf. Beach fires are legal (in designated fire pits), and people tote in huge amounts of stuff early in the day (we've seen torches set up in the sand) and wait for sunset.

"Go to the beach without leaving the city!"

There's one place that tons of Seattleites head when the weather is nice, and that's Golden Gardens Park.  Just a short drive from Seattle and you're at this great park.  It has all sorts of activities- a play area, off-leash dog area, picnic sites, a boat launch- and the beach! Lots and lots of nice sand, perfect for digging and playing. And when you're done with the sun, you can head off on one of the trails for a nice hike.

"Ah yesss"

This place is gorgeous.  It is very hard to find parking on a nice day though.  It is also EXTREMELY cold.  So cold.  Did I mention cold water?  Yes.  Fun to play in the sand but maybe not to swim.  It is pretty far away from everything but a nice place to visit if you have time

"Golden Gardens Park with young kids"

This is such a gorgeous beach park!  Definitely our favorite in the area.  There's a really large sandy beach with plenty of room for the kids to play, a playground, and grassy areas with lots of shady trees.

Tip: Bring a picnic lunch or dinner with you.  They do have a snack bar there, but it only sells ice cream bars and small snacks.

"Beachcombing, ice cream stand, playground, and more"

Golden Gardens is a fun, popular, and crowded (when sunny) place to visit in Seattle. You can walk along the little boardwalk path past fishing docks, marinas, ice cream and hamburger stands, BBQ pits, and a playground. There are public restrooms, and quieter spots to throw down a picnic blanket -- or busier, fun spots right in front where kids frolick in mini tidepools. Running parallel to the park are train tracks, so kids get excited to see/hear trains thundering by. There is a covered building area that you can rent for parties or even receptions and weddings. Behind the building is a small grassy field for frisbee, as well as a small playground area with swings. Follow a semi-hidden path up the hill and you'll arrive at an off-leash, fenced-in dog park. All kinds of things to do!
