"Beautiful view of Half Dome"

Every year when we visit Yosemite we make sure to take the time to make the trek up to Glacier Point. The first year I visited Yosemite with my husband's family we made the 4 mile trek up to Glacier Point from the valley floor. I do not recommend doing this with small children or brand new hiking shoes. ;) Now, we drive up to Glacier Point. The view from up there is spectacular. You have an amazing view of Half Dome, El Capitan, and Vernal Falls. My girls are pretty fascinated by the lizards and chipmunks they have seen up there too. There is a gift shop at a snack counter up there as well.  Don't forget your camera. You will want to capture the breathtaking views.

"Bees"

This is an absolutely beautiful view... incomparable.  I was very thankful to realize that all (almost all) the edges of the cliffs were walled off with stone or fencing so that I did not have to fear my kids getting too close to the edge.  Even so, it can be nerve wracking to visit this place as a mom.  But even if you don't go near the edge, the views are amazing.

There have been lots of bees here in previous summers, so be prepared.  They love meat (especially our tuna) so it might be wise to eat in the car.

If this is your first time to Yosemite, by all means go to Glacier Point.  But if you have visited this place before, I would recommend the hikes to Taft Point or Sentinel Dome which provide equally amazing views at the end of a 1 mile hike.  Trail heads start along the Glacier Point Road.

"Unforgettable View"

Do not miss this!  The view is amazing!  I've been to Yosemite dozens of times and I never get tired of driving up to Glacier Point.  If it's your first trip to Yosemite and you don't have much time, put Glacier Point at the top of your "must see" list.  You won't regret it.

"Must see"

This is a must see and do if you possibly can!  It is a spectacular place to see that is full of history. Glacier Point is also a very good extra credit opportunity if you have a student in your contingent.  Just ask their instructor and write a paper, easy to do and very educational and gorgeous to boot!

"A view unlike any other"

The view from Glacier Point is one you will never forget. It is located thousands of feet above Yosemite Valley and you can literally spit on Curry Village (not that a reccomend this).  It also gives a very unique perspective of Halfdome.  I think anyone who visits Yosemite MUST go up to Glacier Point.

"The view is amazing!"

This is a must see if you are in Yosemite!  There are hikes that start and end here, but you can also just drive and walk a little ways to see the view.   If you have small children or aren't into hiking, this is a great place to see a spectacular view.  Save this for last as it is pretty spectacular (and might make other views seem not as grand).  Also, there is a snack bar that sells ice cream. :)

"Dazzling view"

I am not much of a hiker and Glacier Point was wonderful for me. Beautiful view without having to hike for hours. Great photo opps, it is splendid and a must go. We have done it twice and always kept it for the last day on our way out of the park, like a nice treat.

"Fun with the Family"

Required sightseeing. Early morning or late afternoon is the best time for the 32-mile road trip to Glacier Point, to avoid gridlock and to see the dazzling array of granite monoliths when the light is most dramatic (early morning is when hang gliders sail off Half Dome).
From Glacier Point, a rock outcropping hanging out over the edge of the valley, you get a breathtaking bird’s-eye view from 3,200 feet. Looking down into the chasm of the valley, your children will spot the river snaking far below and antlike cars crawling on the main roads. With the help of the plaques provided, it’s fun to search for the landmarks. The Ahwahnee is easy to locate, at the foot of Royal Arches; Happy Isles is right below your feet; and Half Dome, with half its roundness chopped off as if
by a tomahawk, seems to fill up half the sky to the east. Look for climbers making their ascent to the 7,000-foot summit of El Capitan, a startling vertical mass four times as large as the Rock of Gibraltar. The faint booming sound you hear in springtime is Nevada Fall, 2 miles away.
A relaxing way to get to Glacier Point is on a narrated bus tour that runs three times a day from the valley ($$$$; 209–372–1240). You can also take the bus one-way up and walk all the way down to the valley, a 4.8-mile, three-and-a-half-hour hike for the superfit family.

"Beautiful amazing sunset"

Since the hike up Half Dome seemed a bit daunting with a 6 month old, this was a spectacular way to enjoy the beauty of Yosemite. We went around 7pm after dinner before the sun set. Check the Yosemite Today for an accurate estimation on when the sun will set for your visit. There was a ranger talk about the history of Yosemite that we were able to catch at Glacier Point as the sun lite up the granite face of Half Dome. Quick drive from Yosemite Valley which is key when traveling with a baby.
