Freestone Park has playgrounds, lakes, basketball courts, picnic areas, a miniature railroad, a waterless wave runner, carousel, and a mini ferris wheel.
We love Freestone park. It is a large area with lots of things to do. They have a playground that just got replaced a year or two ago, it has a train and small carnival type area, and lots of rolling hills, and a lake great for family pictures or feeding the ducks. I think I saw a skate park and tennis courts too. The carnival takes tickets which send out occasional coupons through their email list, there is a small ferris wheel and merry go round and a few more smaller rides. They sell ice cream and food. It isn't always open, so check their schedule. great park!
The park itself is beautiful - big pond with ducks, a bridge and plenty of green grass. This is a perfect backdrop for a picnic with the family or a place to let little ones get their energy out. I was a little concerned with letting my toddler roam TOO free, because of the large pond. So you do have to keep a close eye on the little ones. I was also disappointed because there is a nice big playground, but it says for children 5-12. Once my toddler laid eyes on it, there was no turning back. There is another smaller playground for the little ones (and it is actually going to be re-modeled soon), but I wish it was closer to the big kid one.
The reason this only gets 4 stars from me is because they don't want you to feed the ducks...but we sometimes still do (something about the yeast in bread but I think plain popcorn from the air popper would be ok, right?).
This park has everything. There are great spots for taking pictures, playgrounds, a running/bike path, and certain days, a train and carnival rides for kids. My boys (4 and 2) like standing on the bridge and watching the variety of ducks swimming in the pond.
Check the website for discounts on the train and rides. We were able to get buy one get one free all day ride wristbands by signing up for their email list.
This is a great park with lots of shade, a lovely waterfall and lake and a railroad/carousel for the kiddos. As most other railroad parks in Phx, summer is not a great time to experience it but in winter/spring, I highly recommend it!
It's always very clean and never too crowded.
This park offers beautiful scenery, a couple playgrounds, plenty of picnic areas, a train ride for the kiddos, as well as a few other rides for the kids. We could spend hours here. Good, cheap, fun! You will want to check the hours for the rides as they are not always running. Great place to go with the kiddos when there is good weather!
