An annual holiday parade taking place the first weekend in December.
On our recent trip to the desert in search of holiday cheer, my four year old daughter and I gathered with 80,000 other people to help welcome the holiday season to Palm Springs. This parade was magnificent. With local merchants, schools, civic people, and of course Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus participating, you can really feel the town’s spirit.
I didn’t know what to expect since I had never been to a night time parade. I figured 80,000 people must know something I don’t. The Festival of Lights Parade started and immediately we felt the Palm Springs community spirit. Not only was the Festival of Lights Parade visually stimulating but the music from the marching bands could be felt in our soul. The wonderful people of Palm Springs definitely know how to come together and get the holiday season kicked off!
What we saw:
Lights, lights, and more lights! From golf carts to big rigs all covered in light, dance troops, horses, marching bands, big balloons, Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and a whole lot of community love!
We visit Palm Springs several times a year. We will definitely be planning our future trips to coincide with the parade.
