"Learn How Money Works"

We didn’t plan to visit the Federal Reserve when visiting Philadelphia; it was just a happy coincidence that while visiting the U.S. Mint nearby a guard mentioned that the Reserve was worth a visit. He was right. It was a fantastic learning experience. As a homeschooling mother, I try to find to find educational opportunities wherever and whenever possible. When we entered the Federal Reserve, we found that they have an interactive display that educates visitors on money and finance.  Though it was a little beyond the grasp of our five year old daughter, our eight year old learned quite a bit, as did I. The exhibit was fun and entertaining while also educating us, which is always the best way to approach teaching children. Also, upon entering we were each given a bag of shredded money, which was fascinating for the kids. The exhibit is free, and worth seeing if you have the time. It’s especially interesting when combined with a trip to the U.S. Mint.
