Free! Beautiful! We live here in Greenville, and this is always a first stop. The park has been completely redone to highlight the beauty of the falls- complete with walking suspension bridge across the top. The landscaping is gorgeous- so many flowers in all seasons. Wonderfully manicured- the rolling hills are perfect for a picnic. In the summer they have a Shakespeare in the Park series- perfect for those warm summer nights.
This is a wonderful place in downtown Greenville. The scenery is perfect no matter the season, the atmosphere is warm and family friendly- people enjoying a picnic, dogs walking with their owners, kids exploring the rocks leading up to a pretty nice sized waterfall. The grounds are always well kept, get there early and stake out a swing or swinging park bench. Bring bread to feed the ducks and try to walk all the way around the falls on the paved walkway. Not only is the "busy" section of the fall (where the actual waterfall is) but the side across the river is just as lovely.
Important- the bathrooms are located in the Lookout Grille on the 2nd floor, the building you pass near the front entrance. Make a pit stop there before walking across the suspension bridge (the top of the bridge has the best scenic views) and provides a birds-eye view to the falls and where you and your kids would like to explore!
Falls park is a breathtaking park. The bridge is worth the visit. It reminds me of the golden gate bridge. There are several restaurants that overlook the park that makes it a romantic place for a date as well. The reed river is there as well. Picnic tables are all around so you can bring your meal to enjoy at the park if you don't want to eat at one of the restaurants.
If you're in the area, you must stop here. Especially in the summer. We frequently go to the park and visit the downtown area. Be sure to take a picnic and you can eat it while watching the beautiful waterfall. From the park, you are within walking distance of any type of food or store you could want. *Be sure to help the kids look for the hidden mice in the downtown area.
Its by the river, which is amazing! You can see artist paint landscapes there, people playing guitars, cool, romantic, peaceful place. By the river there are swings for two which is the best part, you can find your own corner with swing and a great view ans just spend amazing time with your partner with a cup of starbucks coffee!
Falls Park is a really scenic place right in the middle of the town. We happened upon it almost by accident! On our visit, we walked through the park, but I bet it would be great for running/playing/etc. as well. We also took a lot of nice photos here. Definitely stop in if you're in downtown Greenville!
This is a beautiful park with a suspended bridge, waterfall, and picnic area. It is very well shaded with great landscaping and easy paths (with ramps for strollers). It can get very crowded though because it is so popular and the parking is limited. There are a lot of people who walk their dogs there though if your little one likes animals. We enjoyed sitting with ice cream from Spill the Beans (near Falls Park) and watching the dogs walk by.
Falls Park is one of our family's favorite destinations in downtown Greenville. We typically start further up on Main St. at O.P. Taylors toy store or Mast General, then end up down at the park. From the amazing bridge (for pedestrian's only) to the beautiful falls, it's a relaxing place to take the kids. Try and avoid the middle of the afternoons on the weekend; it gets a bit crowded. My kids love the grass hill, where without fail they run to the top and roll down. The park is exceptionally maintained. Now, Spill the Beans, a local ice cream shop, moved in next to the park. It's almost heaven. Check the calendar of events. There are always events taking place. Great spot for photos as well.
