Fairytale Town is a 2.5 acre amusement park, located in William Land Park, that brings fairytales and nursery rhymes alive.
There are gardens and a petting zoo on site as well as Robin Hood's band of Merry Men in Sherwood Forest's play fort. A favorite play structure for kids is the Crooked Mile.
Fairytale Town has 25 different exhibits set to the best known Mother Goose rhymes like Jack & Jill gives young children a backdrop to act out their favorite stories.
Children 1 and under are free
Fairytale Town is a truly beautiful park for younger children and the adults who appreciate a space sized for the preschool and young grade school set. What a child and a parent might most enjoy here is a chance to run around, climb, climb, climb, and slide through a few hours of the day.
Slides are worked into many of the "sets" at Fairytale Town. My children's favorites were Owl's House, and the Red Barn. A few very young children did balk at the top of some slides, resulting in stress for both the child and the parent. If you have a new walker, don't worry — there are a number of smaller and more accessible slides for your child.
A wide array of animals are spread throughout the park: rabbits at "A Tale of Peter Rabbit", sheep at "Mary Had a Little Lamb", goats at "Three Billy Goats Gruff". The animals most likely to greet visitors right up at the fence and allow a pet or two (the donkey and the cow) are at the Red Barn.
The park is immaculate, with staff members out and about to direct park visitors to bathrooms, pick up errant trash, and make sure things are running smoothly for that "happy ever after" ending to your day.
Parking was not difficult any of the times we have visited Land Park, but I could see how it could be difficult on really busy days. Prepare to walk a bit from your car to whichever park you visit.
I think you have to bring your kids at exactly the right age to this place. It's great, with so many things to climb on and see, but younger kids don't get it and get bored, and older kids are too cool to make believe they're pirates on a ship. Also, bring a friend. Could get boring if you were running around the place all alone.
We loved this place. Very cute had pleanty of things for kids to do of younger ages. It didn't take long to see it all, but worth it. The price was fair for what you got. I've been going here since i was seven and plan on returning again, many more times. My son and daughter loves this place.
My 2 year old loves this place and so do I except the snack shack. I recommend packing lunch with you. The food in the snack shack is yucky tasting and expensive (the inside and outside of the snack shack looks filthy).
I love the little bathrooms they have for children where everything is toddler height. I also love the many playgrounds Fairytale Town has to offer. Located right across the street from the Sacramento zoo. Parking is not easy but not too difficult and it's free.
Fairytale Town has summer camps and is available for birthday parties. Every Halloween it offers trick or treating for the kids.
fairytale town is our kids' favorite. I have been taking my kids there since they were babies. The funnest and most relaxing place ever. Also, it's not a lot of money and they have activities weekly during the summer months and tours, and have buirthdays there too. Very fun for the little ones.
I hadn't been to Fairytale Town since I was a kid but loved taking my toddlers. The park is definetly geared towards younger kids, maybe 7 and younger. The play areas are all fairytale themed. Our kids ran from the castle and moat to Cinderella's coach to The old woman's shoe in no time. I would advise checking their calendar, we didn't realize it was support Autism Day and were amazed at the crowd we encountered. A fun and relatively inexpensive day if you pack a picnic.
This is a fun filled place directly accross the street from the Sacramento Zoo. Super easy to find! Mother Goose inspired park with slides, forts, petting zoo, garden and more. Very lush and green. So much fun for little ones...probably not the place for kids older than 8, too babish. Would be a fun filled day paired with the zoo!!
Best for little children, this place is lots of fun and a great place to spend some time together. There's lots of nursery rhymes to read and adventure through, our favorites being the crooked bridge, king Arthur's court, and of course the playground.
When I used to live in Sacramento, Fairytale Town was one of the places we frequented the most. It is a charming little park filled with story book themed attractions such as Old Macdonald's farm, a slide the the Little Old Woman's shoe, a pirate ship, Jack and Jill's hill, the crooked road to the Crooked House. My kids absolutely loved this place and I have yet to see a child in there that didn't have a smile on his or her face. Its located across the street from the Sacramento Zoo and it is reasonable to think you could do both in the same day. It is also located in a wonderful park with a nice enclosed play area a couple blocks away. If you are visiting Sacramento with little ones, definitely put this on your to do list.
What a cute place for the kids! We had so much fun at Fairytale Town. They have lots of little areas modeled after different fairy tales- The old woman who lived in a shoe, jack and the beanstalk, etc. All of the play equipment was just the right size for my son, and we got lots of cute pictures.
We have been to fairy tale town several times but it is definately better for the little ones. I would probably say up to maybe 1st grade. I think that past that age they would start getting bored because it's not actual rides or anything. My toddlers enjoy it but it only takes about an hour maybe a little more before they are bored and ready to leave.
It's a small park but there is plenty of things to climb on, slide down, and look at in this park. My kids love it and ask to go all the time. The Sacramento Zoo is right across the street so you can hit both for a longer day. It's an inexpensive and fun way to spend the afternoon.
This is a great place for toddlers. Children 2 and under are free and adult tickets are only 4 dollars! If you live in the area, look into the membership pass if you have small children. Our favorite thing to do was the Crooked Mile and the shoe slide. We have a picture with the cheese from every trip we made to Fairytale Town!
Across from the Sacramento Zoo, this is a fun place to stop and enjoy with your younger set. My older kids got bored pretty quickly, but it was perfect for my youngest who's in the throws of all of Mother Goose's best. The park is a "sets" that are integrated into various types of playground equipment and amusement park type activities. You'll find slides, and climbing structures made for little ones.
Her favorite was the live animals part where we got to see "Mary's Little Lamb" and "3 Little Pigs." The Mother Goose slide is a lot of fun.
