"A nice walk, in a newly landscaped part of Fairmount Park"

When we decided to go the the Waterworks, I simply had no expectations, especially since we had driven through the Park and we quite honestly nervous in certain areas (Most areas of Fairmount Park are delapitated, dirty and not a place you would want to be with your family).
We were so pleasantly surprised by the renovated Waterworks area.  We were there early evening and the grounds were bustling with bikers, runners, skaters, etc.  The views of the waterfall were beautiful as were the hikes up to the top of the hill.
That said, this is not a place to spend very much time. I would say a hour max.  A definate add on for those going to the Museum.

"Educational great views"

This place is new to the waterworks and the facilities are very clean and modern.  Might be a little boring for some kids, but its a nice little educational trip esp if you are planning a walk along Kelly Drive or a trip to the art museum. The scenic views are fantastic.

"Fun with the Family"

If you’ve ever driven the Schuylkill Expressway in Philly, you may have noticed the striking building below the art museum. This is the Waterworks, the nation’s first municipal water center. The Waterworks Interpretive Center is an exciting combination of environmental education, architectural history, and cultural heritage. Combine a visit here with a walk along Boathouse Row, a stroll through the azalea garden, and a tour of the art museum.
