this is a wonderful place to take a walk and enjoy the scenary and explore the buildings, sculptures alonmg the way.  Combine this adventure with somne letterboxing and kids will be sure to enjoy.  if you have not discovered letterboxing go to letterboxing northamerica on the internet and discover a great way to enjoy the outdoors and learn map reading, critical thinking skills.

"HUGE park!"

I haven't been to everything in Fairmount park, but since we have visited several times, i want to write a review. Even if you don't go to a specific activity, the park is beautiful and great for the kids to just run around. There are benches and little hidden nooks with artwork everywhere. Grass to run on, trees to hide in, fountains to splash in, etc. We have visited the Japanese House several times, and it is well worth visiting.

"Fun with the Family"

At 8,700 acres, Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park is one of the world’s largest city parks and an amazing source of activities. The park includes: Andorra Natural Area, Bartram’s Gardens, Boathouse Row, Japanese House and Garden, Smith Playground and Playhouse, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Fairmount Park Waterworks, and the Philadelphia Zoo. Of lesser interest to families with children are the following sites: Horticultural Center, Memorial Hall, Ryerss Library and Museum, and the ten colonial mansions of Fairmount Park.
The Fairmount Park Information Center is located at Memorial Hall, North Concourse Drive near Forty-second Street and Parkside Avenue; (215) 685–0000 (yes, those zeros are correct). You can also check www.phila.gov/fairpark. For a guided tour of the mansions, please contact Mansions of Fairmount Park, Park House Guides Office, Philadelphia Museum of Art, or call (215) 684–7926. There are also trolleys
that circulate around the park, stopping at all the historic mansions so that you may tour the houses on your own. For information about these trolleys (and also Philadelphia City Trolley Tours), call (215) 925–TOUR.
